The best episodes of SpongeBob SquarePants are visually hilarious and innovatively animated (“Wet Painters,” season three) While I could easily recommend dozens of episodes to the Sponge-curious, I’ve instead opted to highlight three that embody the main elements that make SpongeBob so great: the show’s visual gags, surreal sensibilities, and most importantly, its charming and lovable cast. Anyone who loves comedy or animation should regard it as essential viewing.
